I grew up in the Intermountain West in the USA and currently live in the Southwestern USA. I have been involved in art since childhood - drawing, music and writing. I have also always had an interest in science and technology and fell into computer programming as a vocation in my early 20s.
The arts have continued to be a key part of my life, however. Over the course of several years, I worked off and on in commercial sculpture, design, illustration and music ”on the side.” In my early 30s, I finally took the plunge and started on my BFA in Art, graduating in 2001, from Arizona State University. I have continued to work as a software developer while still getting involved in art projects whenever possible. My technology and art disciplines cross over, blend and, sometimes, clash. Much of my subject matter has had underlying technology themes. Current projects I am involved with are moving into digital media and cross-discipline works with mixes of media and with other artists. The most current project I have been a participant in, Radio Healer, is an example of the latter. This is an exciting and challenging time for both technology and art. The lines are blurring between engineer and artist in many of the art and engineering fields. It is a characteristic of our times - a re-defining of where the boundaries are between these complimentary specialties. Art at its best is thoughtfully engineered and technology at its best is creatively ingenious. |
